Laser Falcon G2

The Laser Falcon G2 is an ultra-lightweight laser methane detector that operates on the same measurement principle as the popular Laser Falcon. Its significantly reduced weight expands the range of applications, including airborne methane monitoring and integration with robotic systems. Equipped with the SkyHub module from SPH Engineering, Laser Falcon G2 offers enhanced capabilities for data collection and processing.

A compact and lightweight payload for detecting methane leaks

UAV-based laser methane detectors, such as the Laser Falcon G2, offer a cost-effective alternative to more complex and expensive aircraft-based systems. Laser Falcon G2 can be mounted on any type of UAV, includung DJI Matrice 300 Series and Inspired Flight IF800/IF1200. Deploying a drone equipped with a Laser Falcon G2 requires minimal preparation. The device can be ready for operation within minutes. This enables rapid unscheduled and emergency inspections. Additionally, UAV-based detectors make it possible to inspect gas facilities independently, without relying on third-party service providers.

Key features

  • Tracks the inspected route with coordinates and gas concentration data
Generates a report with all essential information, including time, leak concentration, GPS coordinates, and maps.
  • In-flight online data transmission through the standard DJI communication line
    Easy data export for reporting.
  • Weights only 300 g (0.66 lb)
  • Detection distance up to 25 meters (82 feet)
  • Quick installation and startup
  • Moisture-proof housing
  • Eye-safe Class 1 and 3a lasers
  • Automatic time synchronization by GPS /
    GLONASS.

How Laser Falcon G2 works

Laser Falcon G2 utilize TDLAS technology

TDLAS (Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy) technology uses a tunable diode laser for precise gas analysis. The laser emits a focused beam of light at a specific wavelength that corresponds to the absorption characteristics of the target gas. When this beam interacts with the gas, some of the light is absorbed by the gas molecules. A sensor then captures the reflected beam, and the concentration of the gas is determined by measuring the intensity of reflected light.
