How Pergam OS UVD works

Pergam OS UVD analyzes the fluorescent signal produced by oil molecules when exposed to ultraviolet laser light

Pergam OS UVD uses laser radiation to remotely detect and analyze oil films on water surfaces. A pulsed ultraviolet semiconductor laser illuminates the water from up to 40 meters away, causing oil molecules to emit fluorescent light at wavelengths specific to each compound. An optical receiver captures the fluorescent signal and sends the data to the processing unit. Spectral analysis enables the detector to identify a range of hydrocarbons, including crude oil and diesel, even in ultra-thin films starting at 1 µm thick.

Where Pergam OS UVD applies

Pergam OS UVD is designed for continuous monitoring of oil contamination on water surfaces in ports, industrial zones, offshore platforms, refineries, and pipelines. It’s ideal for use in rivers, lakes, and coastal areas, providing early detection of oil spills and helping to prevent environmental damage.
  • Oil pollution on rivers, lakes, and sea surfaces

  • Industrial sites and refinery

  • Oil and diesel leaks from pipelines

  • Port and waterfront infrastructure

  • Aquaculture and fish farming

  • Marine and inland water transport

  • Large waterfront construction projects

  • Seawater desalination plants

  • Oil spills from ships and floating platforms

Why oil spill detection matters

Even the smallest oil spill can cause big problems: polluting water, harming marine life, and threatening coastal operations. A thin film of oil spreads fast and silently, making early detection absolutely critical. The sooner you spot a spill, the faster you can act to protect the environment, reduce cleanup costs, and keep your operations running smoothly.
