Two Gas Detection Technologies in One Handheld Unit

Pergam Group is now offering a special package combining the CRY8125 acoustic imaging camera with a plug-in TDLAS methane detector. The CRY8125M brings two complementary gas detection methods into one intrinsically safe handheld instrument: acoustic imaging for locating gas and vacuum leaks from a distance and TDLAS for confirming the presence of methane and measuring its concentration.
With CRY8125M, the inspection workflow is straightforward: locate the leak acoustically, point the laser at the same location to confirm methane, then transfer photos, video and data to the reporting software via Wi-Fi or USB-C for offline report generation.
The acoustic camera uses an array of 200 MEMS microphones with a 2–100 kHz frequency range to locate pressurised gas and vacuum leaks from up to 200 m. It can detect leaks regardless of the gas type, estimate the leak rate and associated cost, and identify partial discharges and mechanical faults.

The removable TDLAS module is designed specifically for methane detection. It measures methane concentration along the laser beam path with a sensitivity of 1 ppm×m and a measurement distance of 0.5–60 m. Operators can check suspected leaks for methane without changing the main instrument.

The camera is rated IP54 and operates from -20 to +50 °C.

Although acoustic imaging and laser methane detection are powerful methods on their own, there are many situations where you need both. That’s why we offer this special package, combining the two technologies in a single solution. You no longer need separate instruments to locate a leak and check whether it contains methane or how much methane is present. With CRY8125M, you can do it all and generate a report within the same workflow.

Real-Time Leak Rate and Methane Data on the Same Screen

CRY8125M displays acoustic leak rate and TDLAS methane measurement data in real time during the same inspection. The acoustic camera shows the detected leak and estimates its leak rate, while the plug-in TDLAS module measures methane concentration along the laser beam path.
You can see both measurements in real time without switching between instruments.

Methane, a major component of natural gas, is a significant contributor to climate change. Although present in smaller quantities than carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, methane has a much stronger warming effect over shorter time periods. A small leak that goes unnoticed can grow, pose a threat to public safety, and steadily increase emissions. Regular surveys catch these leaks early, when repair is cheap and the risk is low.
